The sun may have been shining but it was me who was smiling and I think my beams were even brighter on what turned out to be a glorious graduation day at Queen’s University. My Doctorate wasn’t achieved in the same way as all those students graduating that day, but I was really honoured by my citation from the University. It was a tremendous recognition of a quarter of a century in broadcasting and I was deeply touched. Actually, this makes me “Doctor Doctor” as two years ago I received the honour from the University of Staffordshire. Fabulous though that was, it was that bit extra special to be honoured in my home town of Belfast by Queen’s.
